120 x 120 x 4 cm (47 x 47 x 1½ inches). Oil painting on canvas. Ships rolled in a dent-resistant tube to be stretched by your local framing company (see Shipping large canvases).
This abstract expressionist oil painting from the collection On the verge of waking up is in a style I call “evocative abstract”. Paint layering gives subtle structure and textures to this work. A sense of quiet clarity is built up through mark making and the finessed colour palette – in combination with charcoal and oil sticks. There is a transparency usually associated with aquarel. And I’ve used impasto and sand to give extra plasticity and dimension to the work.
In this collection, I strive to transform ideas into emotion, expressed by texture and rhythm … I want the painting to evoke feelings, memories and images – stimulating their recall to the conscious mind. You are invited to explore and discover your own meaning.
